Learn More About Angelo

I arrived in Israel four years ago as a political refugee from the Darfur region of Sudan. My journey to Hebrew University from Sudan is filled with challenges that are difficult for me to describe in a few sentences. Needless to say, I am very happy to attend the Rothberg International School Mechina program.  I knew very little Hebrew or English on arriving, and am now studying intensive Hebrew, intensive English and Business Administration, and preparing for the Israeli version of the SATs, which will allow me to be accepted to Hebrew University.

When I started school, I attempted to make the tuition payments on my own but soon realized it was impossible.  I am amazed, again and again, by the kindness of people in Israel.  I came to this country with nothing, literally, and whenever I struggle, there are kind people to help me. I want to thank everyone who has given me a chance to advance myself and to remain in this great program. After all the crimes against humanity and atrocities that I have witnessed firsthand, I also must thank those generous donors who have helped me to keep my faith in the kindness of human beings.  I am extremely grateful and hopeful for my future.
