Nava Tehila- "beautiful praise"- is an emerging prayer and study community in Jerusalem. We welcome people of diverse backgrounds who wish to experience various expressions of spiritual life with a Jewish flavor, pray, study and Tikkun Olam. Nava Tehila is led by Rabbi Ruth Gan Kagan
Nava Tehila is bursting with musical creativity. We write beautiful original music for prayers and Psalms that really touch people. Our music has been used in prayer at communities all over the world, included in anthologies and is very much loved by our Christian brothers and sisters. Our first CD has sold over 4,000 copies world wide. Read more about our musicians.
This new CD is part of the resources we are creating for music for prayer. We aim to raise even more then our challege here in order to expand our Online Music Archives and the training we hold for rabbinical students and lay prayer leaders.
Visit our Online Music Archives, a resource center where you can listen and download all of our tunes. Some of the songs are recorded professionally, like the ones on this upcoming CD, and the rest as field recordings. On the archives you can also watch video clips and download notes and chords. In the near future we plan to upload articles and tips about musical prayers, as well as explanations and examples of leading prayers with "intentions" – facilitation with words woven around a topic or a direction (what we call a journey) as a way to create meaningful and relevant prayer for different audiences.
Monies will also support our training for prayer leaders and rabbinic and clergy students and our work with musicans who wish to merge thier music talent into a prayerful life.
