Woodley came from Haiti to Israel to be saved

This Passover we had even more reason to celebrate:  Woodley Elisse , the six year old Haiti earthquake survivor who was brought to Israel with the help of the Israeli national rescue team, has returned home to Hiati.

His amazing story of a little boy who survived the earthquake, survived a complex open heart surgery and fought for his life after all the complications that followed the surgery - is a true model for all of us and a wonderful Passover story - the Holiday of Freedom.

We are now preparing to bring another 5 children from Haiti to Israel for live saving cardiac treatment.

Please give generously from your heart so we can repair theirs.

SACH Medical Mission to Ethiopia

Dr. Akiva Tamir and Professor Abraham Haileamlak Mitike just returned from a five day mission to Jimma, Ethiopia.  The arrival of the doctors was announced on the radio and the local parents brought their children to the hospital in Jimma to be screened by Save a Child's Heart.

The two doctors were joined by residents and students from the Jimma hospital where they assisted and learned from the experience.

As a result of their working from morning until evening, 51 children were examined in the clinic. 20 were found to need surgery now, and the rest will require follow up in the next few years and possible surgery.

Professor Abraham has been training with Save a Child's Heart since September, 2009 and he will return to Ethiopia in six months.  The first of the children who need surgery will be arriving before he returns home.

Six-year-old Woodlee Elysee has turned into a different child during the past month – from one so sick with a congenital heart condition that lack of oxygen gave his brown skin a deep blue tinge, to a healthy one who runs, jumps, laughs and uses some Hebrew words in addition to his native French.
