Learn More About Yordanos

Eighteen year old Yordanos is originally from Ethiopia. She is very articulate and speaks English perfectly as she studied at an American school in Jerusalem (The Anglican International School) for high school. Her dream is to go to University to study business. Yordanos does not come from a Jewish family, but her father has lived in Israel for many years. Yordanos’ Hebrew is not at a high enough level to directly enter University, so she must first study a year at Mechina. "I did not have enough money saved to cover tuition costs, let alone for my housing and expenses.  I worked almost every night to survive financially.  For a time, I thought I would have to leave the program. Thanks to the generosity of donors, I was given scholarship aid that allowed me to continue my studies."

More About Ben

Ben

“Hebrew University and its friends are making my dream possible. Without your help, I would not have been able to succeed in my classes.”

American-born Ben always dreamed of making aliyah to Israel.  When he realized his dream through a youth program, Ben immediately enlisted in the IDF. Although immigrants are required by Israeli law to only serve two years, rather than the three expected of Israeli born citizens, Ben decided to serve the full three years. At the conclusion of his service in the IDF, Ben enrolled in the Rothberg International School’s Mechina program.
