At “An Evening with the Stars,” the camp’s opening barbecue, youth had an opportunity to stargaze, as well as to view Albert Einstein’s long-lost telescope, now meticulously restored. They also enjoyed mingling with a different kind of star, swooning when Israeli singer Shlomi Bar-el — a veteran of Kochav Nolad, the Israeli version of American Idol — performed.

All present were invited to participate at various stations were, with the help of Hebrew University science students, they exploerd astronomy and flight-related topics, including how to build and operate telescopes, stargazing through advanced telescopes and surprisingly enough, how to build a working missile. Each station attracted large crowds and generated considerable enthusiasm.

In attendance at this inaugural "Knowledge Camp" were some 200 campers and their families as well as Hebrew University President, Prof. Menahem Ben-Sasson and Nathan Lindenberg, National President of the Canadian Friends of Hebrew University.
This celebration of this very special project took place at the university's Joseph Meyerhoff Youth Center for Advanced Studies.
