On January 12, a 7.1-magnitude quake - the strongest earthquake in more than 200 years - rocked the Republic of Haiti in the Caribbean. The central hospital in the capital of Port-au-Prince was heavily damaged as were the President Palace. Official estimation believe that the number of casualties will exceed 200,000.

Each of us can support the humanitarian effort of the international community, to help the citizens of Haiti who survived the earthquake and are now in great distress, without water, food, clothing or a roof.

Lets all come together and pass the message on to friends and family

Their need - Our responsibility:

The need in Haiti

In light of the Organization's extensive experience in emergency relief operations around the world in manmade and natural disaster zones, a situation room was set up in the Organization's headquarters immediately upon reports to the extent of the damage.

A relief mission from Latet Organization in cooperation with IsraAID was deployed within 36 hours of the disaster and is operating in the area since. The mission is conducting a thorough assessment of the exact needs and is offering medical assistance. The mission is composed of Dana Manor (Manager of Latet's Emergency Relief Dept.), Liron Yochai and Dana Kaminski (Specializes in Humanitarian Emergency Assistance at Latet), Ziv Koren (volunteer and photographer), 3 physicians, 3 nurses, 3 paramedics and Dr. Ephraim Laor (An Earthquake Expert and a representative from IsraAID)

The members of the mission, representatives of the civil society in Israel, departed to the unknown and are dealing themselves with daily survival difficulties - in order to assist the people of Haiti in this difficult time.

Emergency Supply:

The critical immediate need is for supplies for the relief efforts. The most urgent purpose is to provide for the most basic life supporting needs for tens of thousands of refugees, who have lost their family members and all of their property and are left with but the scant clothing on their body. Latet commits and pledges that 100 % of you're your donations will be applied towards these basic life-saving supplies, which will be transferred directly to Haiti and into the hands of those in dire need via the Latet relief mission.

1.   Water and water-purification tablets

2.   Basic food supplies and baby formulas

3.   Nylon sheets

4.   Hygiene products

5.   Underwear and clothes

6.   Cooking supplies and utensils

7.   Blankets and sheets

8.   Mosquito nets

9.   First aid kits
