It's true, I never do too much for charity and most of us don't have a lot of time and wish we had more.
But Orr Shalom is especially close to our hearts because Hadas volunteers with Orr Shalom and sees the good work they do with her own eyes.
Orr Shalom helps kids from the worst of homes and the most heartbreaking circumstances and places them in foster families, family group homes or intensive-care closed homes around the country.

In Hadas's own words:
"Once a week I volunteer for Orr Shalom by going to play with two foster children. It's so special and important because Orr Shalom provides a normal life for kids who otherwise would have really hard lives. I know that it helps the kids so much when I come to visit because they are always waiting at the door and hug me and their faces light up - they're really longing for love, and we have a really good time together. I know that the work I do with Orr Shalom is really significant to those kids who are learning to adjust and to form ties to people and it also gives their foster parents a break."

Orr Shalom urgently needs to raise $25,000 to renovate the Reut home for boys or it will be closed. Reut is home to 24 boys who have suffered the most extreme physical, emotional, and/or sexual abuse and neglect, because of which they endure deep behavioral, learning, and psychiatric difficulties. Their vulnerability is so acute that Reut is their last chance. No other program in Israel will welcome and care for such severe cases. Without Reut and its highly-specialist care program, these boys have nowhere else to go

Meet the Reut boys

Eliav, nine, has lived in Orr Shalom’s Reut Home for Boys for three years. Aged six, he was found scavenging for food on the Tel Aviv streets, at night. His mother, a victim of violence traumatized from life experiences, could not look after him. Home was the old Tel Aviv Central Bus Station. When Eliav arrived at Orr Shalom, he had suffered severe neglect. He did not speak, his clothes and body were dirty, and he had animal-like behavior.

Today, Eliav is an independent, sociable boy who has learnt basic life skills. He built up strong relationships in Reut, and can communicate through speech. His mother regularly visits him and the staff is helping them forge a positive relationship

Reut believed in Eliav and changed his life. Help Eliav and 23 boys like him...

STAGE ONE COMPLETE!!

Thanks to your amazing support, we have raised in an incredibly short timeframe the funds to complete Stage One of renovations at Orr Shalom’s Reut home for boys.

We are now one step closer to saving Reut, and to the 24 abused boys not losing their homes! Thank you!

But we still have more to do to save this home...please help us with Stage Two...we need your help now!
