Dear Friends and Family,

It’s an exciting time of year for Project HEAL!  On May 4th, Liana turns 21, and on May 8th, Kristina turns 20 AND we celebrate our 4th anniversary of incorporation.  Instead of asking for gifts, we are asking you to consider donating $20 or $21 to Project HEAL.

Over the past four years, we have been able to do great things thanks to your support.  Most notably, we have sent seven young women, ranging in age from 12-35, to residential and inpatient treatment centers.  We have also continued to share our stories with teens and educate them on the dangers of eating disorders and encourage positive body image.

This past year, we had many notable successes.  In June, we welcomed a new clinical advisory board of eating disorder specialists to assist in our scholarship process – Kenneth Willis, Christina Carrad, and Wendy Meyer Sterling.  In October of 2011, we hosted our 4^th annual benefit brunch at Carlyle on the Green, which brought in over $25,000.  In November, Project HEAL was invited into the NEDA Network of the National Eating Disorders Association as the first teen-founded non-profit member.  We have also continued to expand to chapters at colleges and regions around the United States.  Just last month, our New Jersey Chapter hosted a highly successful EveryBODY is Beautiful Fashion Show, which brought in over $6,000.

We’ve also been able to spread our mission very far this year due to tremendous press coverage.    In November, Kristina and Liana were honored at Carnegie Hall at Glamour Magazine’s 21st Women of the Year Awards ceremony, and named 2 of the 21 Amazing Young Women in the country for their work with Project HEAL.  Some of our other coverage included the Huffington Post, Teen Vogue, Seventeen, and most recently, the Wall Street Journal. 

The scholarship applications keep piling in, and for our birthdays this year, we’d love to be able to send another person on the road to recovery.  We are so grateful for all of your continued help and support.
