Help Us Bring Innovative Cinema to Israel's Periphery this May

Learn more about the 14th Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival on our website

In these exciting times of increasing awareness of social advocacy worldwide, we –- Israeli film students –- want to make our own unique contribution to social and cultural justice in Israel.

We have masterminded the idea of the Student Film Bus –- a new initiative that will bring thought-provoking films to diverse audiences throughout Israel. Over a week-long period in May, 40 film students from Tel Aviv University and overseas film schools will travel across the country to outlying and disadvantaged towns –- many without their own movie theater –- to present short and feature-length Israeli-made films with a social message.

By screening productions that explore different perspectives and challenge societal norms, the project will serve as a platform for lively discussions between students and residents. Through these discussions, we hope to create a sense of solidarity and mutual tolerance among Israelis of different cultural and religious backgrounds, as well as boost their awareness of social advocacy as a means of breaking down barriers and enhancing quality of life.

To make the project a reality, we need to raise $21,500 by May 15.

The Student Film Bus will be run from 17-24 May in the framework of the 14th Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival, run by Tel Aviv University film students since 1986.

The Student Film Bus: Fulfilling An Important Social Mission

Since its creation in 1986 by Tel Aviv University (TAU) students, the Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival has pursued a social mission. In its attempt to challenge cultural and social norms, the Festival brings together students, academics, filmmakers, artists, journalists and intellectuals from Israel and around the world for a shared experience of vibrant art and fresh perspectives on the current cinematic discourse. As the Festival is held in the Middle East, the epicenter of a long and complex political conflict, it is dedicated to promoting issues of peace, equality and human rights, as well as political and social awareness.
