Help Badger

Badger has had so many puppies that she now has multiple tumours along both mammary glands, including tumours beneath three nipples and a umbilical hernia (her organs are pushing through the muscle of her belly).

Found wandering alone behind the fire line near Kamloops, Badger's past is a bit of mystery. But what is known is that her life was filled with profound neglect.

Despite this hard life, this six-year old border collie-corgi cross is friendly, outgoing and loves being cuddled constantly. You can ensure she has a chance to be loved in return but giving her the surgery she needs to be tumour and pain-free.

*Goal includes: surgery, medication, vaccinations, regular health check, and daily care for Badger until she’s ready for adoption. If her medical costs and cost of care is less than is raised in her name, additional funds will provide care for other animals.

Update!

When found behind the fireline Badger’s belly was covered in tumours from having too many puppies. Today she continues her treatment to remove the tumours and treat her hernia. Her foster mom shares that,"Badger came home July 26th the day after surgery, her tail wagging hard and fast as she bounced up and down giving kisses. Such a sweet easy going dog, never fussing while I gave her medications or applying cold packs to her surgical site.

“Badger went for her two week check-up on August 9th. During her examination she laid calmly on her back while two vets removed 100 stitches!

“In four weeks’ time the vet will re-assess Badger and decide if she is ready for her second surgery to remove the rest of her tumours.

“While Badger recovers she enjoys her daily walks meeting new friends or watching her goofy foster sister and sleeping on her bed beside mine."

Badger, you are a strong and beautiful girl. You did not deserve what you have been thru. Get well! I know I live far away, but I would adopt you in a minute. I pray you will find a loving, caring and peaceful forever home.
