"Give Your Heart Out" Valentine's Day Campaign 2014

Marnie Beals & Jordana Schafer

This past Spring I was fortunate enough to volunteer at Save A Child's Heart for two weeks in Holon, Israel. Save a Child’s Heart (SACH) is an Israeli-based international humanitarian project, which provides life saving heart surgery and follow-up care to children from developing countries regardless of their nationality, religion, color, gender or financial situation.

Volunteering with SACH has brought me a new perspective on health, happiness and friendship. By the end of my two weeks in the SACH home, I learned how to communicate through countless smiles and hugs rather than a common language, engaged in conversation with the nurses and doctors, cooked recipes from around the world with the children's mothers and in return shared a very American dish (pizza) with them, learned various words and phrases in Swahili, accompanied the children to their follow-up appointments, experienced the beach with some children who had never felt sand before, played numerous games of pick up sticks and puzzles, and most importantly played a part in these children's journey to health and watched as they left Israel to return to their homes happy and healthy.

The Give Your Heart Out campaign, inspired by Valentine's Day, is part of an ongoing campaign to raise money to help bring more children to Israel for life saving heart surgery. Every dollar of your donation will go towards saving these children. Please help save the world one heart at a time!

Save a Child's Heart

Save a Child’s Heart (SACH) is an Israeli-based international humanitarian project, whose mission is to improve the quality of pediatric cardiac care for children from developing countries who suffer from heart disease and to create centers of competence in these countries. SACH is totally dedicated to the idea that every child deserves the best medical treatment available, regardless of the child's nationality, religion, color, gender or financial situation.

This donation is for all the children who have inspired me while volunteering with Save a Child's Heart in 2008.
