Why does one street separate a community?

Daniel had never visited the Arab side of Abu Tor. Muhammad had lived his whole life without talking to his Jewish neighbors. They never imagined they could be friends..

One street divides the Israeli and Palestinian residents of Jerusalem's Abu Tor neighborhood. There is no wall but, there has been no contact between the families.

This was the reality until that virtual wall was cracked by founding a joint Jewish and Palestinian youth soccer team. Now 50 more kids are waiting to join the team.

It costs $720 to fund one Jewish and one Arab kid for the year. Donate now and change their lives from living apart, to playing together.

Please donate now, and help change the lives of Muhammad and Daniel along with 50 other kids today!

FAQs

Question:

Is my donation tax deductible?

Answer:

For Israeli taxpayers, yes. If you need a tax deductible receipt outside of Israel, email to dave@israelgrants.com and tell us for which country and we will send you the instructions as to where to send your check. If you do not itemize or do not need the tax deduction, please proceed to donate via your credit card on this site.

For U.S. tax deductible receipts, make your check payable to PEF, write in the memo line of the check for the Baka Community Center, or add a separate note to that effect and send it to PEF 630 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10017, USA. Send an email to dave@israelgrants.com  telling us that you have done this so that we can follow up with them. You will receive your tax deductible receipt from PEF, a 501c3 which passes on 100% of the funds to us.

Good Neighbors Abu Tor/Al-Thuri

This project is a joint initiative of Israeli and Palestinian residents of Al- Thuri/Abu Tor, who have decided to work together to creat a better community based on common needs and interests. After decades of separation, with very little contact, we have decided to put politics aside, and work together to improve our lives. With the administrative and professional aid of the Community Council of Greater Baka and with the cooperation of the Residents’ Committee of Arab Abu Tor, we are working towards a brighter future for our children through soccer and enrichment, for women's empowerment through language learning and programming, for economic advancement. for the environment and more.

This crowdfunding initiative is focussed on the soccer teams, ages 8-10, 11-13 and the new group we seek funds to open for ages 14-16. Contribute and help 50 kids play on the same team!

"Think Globally, Act Locally" - help us build a community which will be a model for peace in Jerusalem. For more information write Alisa at goodneighbors.abutor@gmail.com.
