Help 95 At Risk Youth Apply to College

Brownsville, Brooklyn, often called the “Murder Capital of NYC,” has the highest crime rate in New York State. It is riddled with gang warfare, homelessness, incarceration and, most important, high levels of poverty.

In the middle of this neighborhood lies an oasis: Brooklyn Democracy Academy, an amazing 200-student high school that doubles as a safe haven from gang activity, the result of a productive collaboration between JCCA and the NYC Department of Education.

The students at BDA are a resilient, motivated group of young adults who graduate with Regents diplomas and are college-ready. But the doors to higher education are closed to them. Believe it or not, their families struggle to pay the $65 application fee to city colleges.

Your gift will help these deserving seniors apply to college and fulfill their dream of an education.

Help these kids from Brownsville, Brooklyn live a better life! Please give now – $65 will support one college application.
